An irresistible combination of Scottish and Quebecois music from two bands at the top of their game. Scottish five-piece band Breabach are firm favourites at Celtic Connections and Cambridge Folk Festival, as well as at the Eastgate. They're joined by Quebecois quartet Le Vent du Nord, with a blend of consummate musicianship and boundless joie de vivre.
Breabach are one of the most talked-about bands on the Scottish folk scene. Their innovative Celtic style - blending double bagpipes, flute, fiddle and song - creates a special kind of energy and excitement on stage. The Eastgate is delighted to welcome them back to the theatre, following their very popular gig last spring.
Le Vent du Nord have enjoyed rocketing success since their debut in August 2002. Some of their songs come from traditional folk repertoire, while others are original compositions. On stage, they know how to deliver music that will move any crowd - to their feet and in their hearts.
Le Vent has enough virtuosity and spirit to make its four musicians sound like 40 at times, and it tackles Scot, Irish or French material with equal authority. With its offhandedly great musicianship, it's a blast to hear this wind blow. Boston Herald
