Bridging The Gap

28 Apr 2010 - 19:30

£12 (£10)

The evening showcases a violin concerto written by Patsy Reid for Celtic Connections 2008, as part of the 'new voices' series. Harmonically, Bridging the Gap is a journey through the seven modern modes of music, which draws on both classical and traditional genres.  Structurally, the work takes the form of a concerto, with the dominant fiddle joined by piano, guitar, double bass, percussion and string ensemble.

Young musicians from the Borders will join Patsy and friends to play music to open the concert.

'It doesn't just bridge the gap - it lays down a sparkling tapestry between the two genres' The Irish World

'An attractive and skillfully assembled work that is coherent, imaginative and beautifully performed' The Scotsman
