A second Quiz Night was held on 14 March 2009 and was well supported, with over 100 participants in 15 teams. The winners, The Mental Blockbusters, were clear leaders and were delighted to accpet the trophy as 2009 winners.
It was very pleasing to see a wide range of ages, with family teams, a High School pupils team, and various local organisations represented.
A special thanks to the Eastgate staff for participating as well as helping to run the bar, the box office and all the other duties involved in running the theatre! Thanks also to Cathy, Eilidh and Mhairi for keeping the score and handing out and retrieving the question and answer sheets.

A most enjoyable evening of music and dance was held in the Burgh Hall, Peebles on Saturday, 14 February 2009. During the evening many couples took to the floor and waltzed to the music.
Conductor, John Howden was in great form as he led the 44 strong orchestra through such Viennese classics as “Thunder and Lightning Polka”, “Blue Danube Waltz” and “Radetsky March”.
There was great fun when John invited the audience to accompany the Radetsky March by clapping to the beat of the music.
Soprano soloist, Marcella Holmes delighted the audience with a variety of love songs, the highlight of which was Burns’ “My Love is like a Red, Red Rose”.
As they took their bow, the orchestra was warmly applauded by an appreciative audience.
This event was a successful fund-raiser for the Eastgate Theatre organised by the “Friends of the Eastgate”.
