After 25 years at the forefront of British chamber music, The Schubert Ensemble are firmly established as one of the world's leading exponents of chamber music for piano and strings. In the last year they have performed in major concert halls in Europe, USA and South Africa, and given a four-concert Brahms series for BBC Radio 3.
In this Music in Peebles concert they play a contemporary work by Anthony Powers, especially commissioned for the ensemble. Running through it is a Monteverdi madrigal, which they will play as an introduction. This is followed by the Piano Quartet in A minor by Vincent D'Indy, and Schumann's Piano Quartet Op 47 in E flat major.
