Larry Nidus is a good man. He is a loving husband and a committed father, but one day everything starts to go wrong. His wife leaves him for reasons she can't explain; then Larry's career is put in jeopardy by a series of anonymous letters. When his wife's new partner dies in a car accident, she insists that he should foot the bill for the funeral. The cash-strapped Larry also finds himself bailing his gambler brother out of jail, as well as desperately trying to save his own career and his own name. In spite of it all, we have to laugh at Larry's plight in a world with no silver linings - a world that is uncomfortably familiar to us all.
This is the latest film by writers/directors Joel and Ethan Coen.
